This Privacy Policy explains how PDFLite AI (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “App”) processes information when you use the app. This page is a general disclosure and is not legal advice.

What PDFLite AI does

• Opens and displays PDF documents on your device.
• Extracts text from PDFs, including OCR for scanned PDFs (on-device when available).
• Provides AI features that answer questions about extracted text (when you opt in by using AI).

Information we collect and process

• Account / profile data: identifiers needed to provide the service and manage subscriptions (if applicable).
• User content you choose to process: selected/extracted text from PDFs and OCR text used for AI features.
• Prompts and responses: the questions you type and the AI answers returned to you.
• Chat logs: conversation history for AI features (stored on Cloudflare infrastructure).
• Diagnostics & security metadata (limited): timestamps, error logs, rate-limiting signals, and abuse-prevention events.
• Device/app context (limited): app version and basic device info you provide (for support and debugging).

AI features and data transmission

When you use AI features, PDFLite AI may send your selected/extracted text and your question to a server endpoint operated by us (for example, a Cloudflare Worker proxy). That proxy may forward the request to an AI provider configured for the app (for example, Amazon Nova and/or OpenRouter) to generate an answer.

If you do not want document text transmitted, do not use the AI features.

How we use information

• Provide core app functionality (viewer, OCR, search, and AI responses).
• Maintain security and prevent abuse (rate limiting, monitoring, fraud prevention).
• Improve the app (analytics, performance tuning, bug fixing).
• Analysis and target marketing based on aggregated or inferred usage patterns where permitted by law and your settings/consent (if applicable).

Where data is stored

• On-device: PDFs and extracted text may be stored locally (recents/cache) for performance and convenience.
• Cloud infrastructure: chat logs are stored on Cloudflare as part of providing AI history and service operations.
• AI providers: prompts/selected text are processed by the configured AI provider to generate responses.

Do we store your full document content?

We do not intend to store your full PDFs on our servers. PDFLite AI stores your PDFs locally on your device. However, when you use AI features, you may transmit selected/extracted text to our backend and the configured AI provider. We may store chat logs (including prompts and responses) on Cloudflare as described above.

Sharing and third parties

We share data only as needed to operate the service:

• Cloudflare (proxy/edge + storage infrastructure): receives AI-feature requests and stores chat logs.
• AI providers (e.g., Amazon Nova / OpenRouter): receive prompts and the extracted text necessary to generate answers.
• Service operations: we may use vendors for analytics, diagnostics, and billing/subscriptions as applicable.

We do not sell personal information.

Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for service delivery, compliance, security, and legitimate business purposes. Specific retention may vary by data type.

• Chat logs stored on Cloudflare are retained for a limited period and may be purged earlier as part of routine cleanup.
• Some records may be retained longer where required for legal obligations, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or billing reconciliation.

Account and chat log deletion

PDFLite AI does not currently provide an in-app option to delete your account and stored chat logs. You can request deletion by email as described below.

How to request deletion (email process)

• Email us with the subject: [PDFLite AI] Request Data Deletion
• Include the email/identifier used in PDFLite AI and clearly state you want deletion of: account/profile data and stored chat logs.
• We may request additional verification to prevent unauthorized deletion.
• Once verified and approved, we will delete or anonymize the data where feasible, unless retention is required by law/security.

Your choices

• Do not use AI features if you do not want extracted text transmitted.
• Clear app data/uninstall the app to remove local caches and recent files stored on your device.
• Request deletion via email for server-side data (account/profile data and chat logs).

Security

Network communications use HTTPS encryption in transit. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we use reasonable safeguards.

Children

PDFLite AI is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the effective date above.
